help diagnose please - Thump/skip in wheel while steering

(This is a 1997 e320)
Hi all, does anyone have any ideas as to what this problem could be?? I'll do my best to describe... When going at a very slow speed (for example when pulling into a parking spot) I get a strange sound or feeling coming from the front left wheel. It's when I'm turning the wheel all the way hard to the left, turning left at slow speed, something in the wheel or brakes or CV joint seems to skip, almost as if something in the joint is rubbing at a point in the turn. I dont think it's the tire rubbing on the wheel well. It gives me the feeling that something in the joint could be loose and shows itself when the wheel is turned all the way left. Hope that's enough info to describe and can help me diagnose and/or point me what to keep in mind when I bring it to my mechanic... Thanks for the help.
