Break in period after cylinder head rebuild?

Hey guys

I was wondering if there is any kind of a break in period after rebuilding a cylinder head, should I be careful about reving the engine or anything like that?

I just finished putting my car back together, and a friend asked me if I want to go camping, it's 4 hour drive one way all highway, would I be risking anything?

The head is under warranty.

There is really no break-in required after a head rebuild or replacement.
Just make absolutely sure there are no coolant or oil leaks.
In the " old days " heads needed to be re-torqued after a certain interval, but with the modern fasteners used today, that procedure is obsolete as well.

P.S. I hope your friend is a female.

Agree with Manny, but I would do a few test drives at moderate revs. Listen for any abnormal noises and do a couple of thorough checks under the hood to make sure everything is in order.

"New car breakin" applies primarily to piston rings, axle gears, and brakes. A fresh cylinder head if done properly doesn't need a specific breakin.

Try a couple of temperature cycles on the engine to make sure all the gaskets are good.

test drive

I took her for a test drive today and everything seems to be holding up real well. No leaks visible anywhere, no ticks, valve train is super quiet, lambda cycle is stable, took a few tries to get her started but that's because the computer was reset, now she starts right up. There was some smoke on the beginning but that was due to the degreaser I used on the engine, burnt out and engine is good as new.

I'm very impressed with the valve job. The engine regained some power in higher rpms, must have been due to the broken spring.
