Mercedes slk 230 top

Hello All
The strut that controls the top leaked. Unfortunatly it leaked on the motor and shorted it out. The shop wants to charge 2k to fix it.

is this a hard job to do? I'm pretty good with a wrench. Also any suggestion on a good place to buy parts?
