sunroof shade removal

Hello,

The headliner on my sunroof shade is peeling really bad. I want to know if I can remove it so I can fix it properly. Any suggestions as to how I go about performing this repair? I have a 95 c280 if that helps any. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Someone mentioned to me that I can find a diagram on how to remove the sunroof shade. I saw interactive shop manuals for Mercedes Benz on ebay. Are these a good buy, or are they a rip off?

OK, scratch that idea. I'd rather just know how to fix it myself than pay $200 for software. So does anyone know how to take out the sunroof shade? Or should I just try to fix the sagging liner while its still in?

I don't know if your car has the glass roofpanel or not, but I just removed the sunroof liner on my 94 C280 the other day so I could adjust the roof panel. If you have the metal roof panel all you have to do is open the sunroof partway. On the front lip in between the headliner panel and the sunroof panel are two white snaps. Once you unsnap these two pins you will be able to slide the headliner towards the front of the car past the sunroof itself and then up and out of the sunroof opening.

Ok...very easy to do.
1. pop up the sunroof
2. look at the rubber bellows on the side. detach them from the metal rail on the bottom side.
3. pull out the metal rails and remove.
4. open the sunroof
5.pull the shade forward and remove from the top.

I removed the two plastic vents by prying carefully on the side and bending them. To install, insert the bottom first and carefully bend them as they snap in.

This procedure is for the glass sunroof.

'02 S430

This site is very useful - thanks to all that contribute. I took the advice posted here for the C class. I recently recovered the sun roof shade as mine mealed up as well. I used split deer skin and it looks wonderful. To get it out of the S430 open the sun roof all the way with the glass all the way back into the roof and from the outside, lift it out. Installation is the reverse. piece of cake.

I'm going to try this fellas. The shade on my C220 wrinkled. A shop said they can reupholster it but have to remove the sunroof.... for $180.

Sorry but no dice. No one is messing with my sunroof.
