Radiator fan out

I can't get the fan to turn on in my 190e 2.3 1987 benz. I bought a new clutch, changed the sensors, tried to jump the fan and still nothing. I don't think I jumped it right though cause I didn't have the car on and someone said I need to do it again with the car on. I didn't think I needed it on cause it was a direct jump to the Batt. without using the switches and sensors but I'll try it agian. I want to change the relay sensor but when I found it, there was two relays and I didn't know which one it was. I also found two more in the fuse box that look exactly the same as the ones that are in front of the fuse box. So now I have two relays inside the fuse box and another two right in front of the fuse box. Now I am really lost. I have no clue which one does what. Then right next to the one that is in the fuse box, there is an empty space where another fuse goes. What is that third one for? I never new fuses and relays can be confusing. Can someone please help? Thank u.

You need to run the engine because the fan runs off the pulleys. No moving pulleys and no moving fan! You may not be able to really here the clutch engage either if the fan is not free spinning. It will just lock. Also the temp switch actually just connects the ground on the fan clutch when it reaches temp. There is power from somewhere else alreay at the clutch! So to test properly start the car and jump the two wires at the fan temp switch!

Hey Jamie,
Thanks for the reply. Which switch r u talking about? The one on the clutch magnet? Or the one the screws into the block ontop of the car? Please let me know and thank you for your time. By the way, do u know which relay belongs to the fan?
