Post Easiest Question Today? 93 190E Headlamp Sw

Honestly, I did not do a search, frankly because I am at a lost as to word it to effective. I have an 88 560 SEL and a 93 (recent purchase) 190E 2.6. My question relates to the healight switch. The switch illuminates on the 560 and does not on the 190. I know we are talking about two different levels of "trim" but it seems to me the 190's headlamp switch should illuminate -NO? Can anyone confirm this for me? Do I have a blown bulb(s)? Thank you very much!

Woody,

It does not illuminate. The orange "rear fog light" light will come on when you pull it two clicks out to illuminate the rear fod light.

U sure about that? Except for my ML (which has the stalk mounted headlight switch), my other two have the potentio-type switches and the markings on the dash panel surrounding the switch are backlit. You have to remove a dash panel to get to the bulb, and for years I thought my W124 switch wasn't illuminated until I probed around and found the that the bulb was indeed burnt.

Funny how many opinions I've recieved...) I called the local stealership and after having to talk with several people, I spoke with a parts guy. He looked up the switch to the 93 190E and compared it to the 88 560 SEL switch. He said it looked apparrent that the 190E switch does not illuminate. Thanks for chiming in all. Hard to believe that even though the 190E was the "cheap" Benz of its' day, I would have thought at $30k plus, they would have sprung for a bulb...oh well.

Yes, on the 190E it's not illuminated. Well, for $30K you'd think you'd get an adjustable steering wheel and a trunk lid that doesn't sound like recycled Pepsi cans when you close it.
