Multiple problems with newly acquired 1991 300SL.

I have a good friend that is having problems with his newly acquired 300SL.

1. Signal lights won't work as well as hazard lights. I know when I had my old 1985 190E, sometimes the connector would come loose on the terminals of the hazard switch. The connection seems tight but the switch does not seem to stick in a position. Is it supposed to? It kind of works like a defrost switch.

2. Top control does not work. It will put the top up but not down. Somebody at a dealership mentioned that if it ever gets boosted, it will fry something to do with the convertible top and it is $1000 to replace.

3. It is very, very sluggish and has no power when it is cold. Once it is warm it seems to be fine.

All the fuses are fine.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks in advance,

Steve

Update.

The local mercedes dealer diagnosed the signal light problem and the signal light switch as well as the hazard switch was replaced. They still don't work. What else could it be?

Has anyone else heard of the convertible top module getting fried by boosting the car?

TIA,
Steve
