How do I replace a broken vent lever?
I did a search for this but I couldn't find anything. My vehicle is a 1992 190E 2.3. The problem is with the passenger side vent, just to the right of the glove compartment. You know how there is that little lever that moves up and down so that you can regulate the amount of air coming out of the vent? It's broken, and I can't figure out how to replace it. I pulled out the louver but it doesn't appear that there is any way to get to that little lever. How can I replace this lever?

you can replace the whole vent louvres and lever as a unit - it is fairly inexpensive and easier than trying to fix the lever itself. i haven't done this in a while because i haven't had my 190 for quite some time but as well as i remember it is easy enough to remove the old assembly. you might try a search.

sorry. i have been searching for an answer and i can't find anything in previous threads. it is coming back to me know. i am thinking about the swivel assembly itself, not the lever. sorry. tried to help but should have thought this through first. 1,000 apologies.

The lever is a plastic arm that connects to the internal vent flap. I would suggest that you remove the vent housing (remove the under dash panel and the glove box, then remove the plastic conduit tubing to the vent, the vent assembly is held in by plastic locking tabs.) to visually inspect the mechanism. If it can be fixed, fine, otherwise just order a new part.
