Thanks for the input. I did return the R-16 resistor this past summer when the pinging began but it didn't help. I have found that only Shell and Chevron premium fuel work well.

This weekend I adjusted the disributor back to its original spot (marks on the adjusting area) and for some reason now no pinging at all?!?

Ambient temperature does play into this .... temps greater than 70 degrees have made it ping. This makes me thing that possibly it could be an EGR issue.
