Transmission Fluid Overfill
I have added too much transmission fluid in my 300SDL. It is about 1/2 inch over the high mark. Will It hurt anything? IF yes, is there a drain plug i can unscrew to release the excess? Thanks

Take the excess oil out.
Too much oil would cause the oil to foam, drastically reducing lubricity to a point it could cause damage. |

Thanks for your reply. Is this something i can do? Is there a drain plug on the transmission?

drain plug is a 5mm allen hex and is on the bottom of the 6-bolt tranny pan

Hi everyone. I too just overfilled my trans last night, though not by as much. When running hot after driving briskly for 10 minutes, it is about 1 or 2 mm over the high mark (just barely over the mark). Is this enough of a difference for me to worry about? Thanks for your help.

Anyone know what the amount of fluid is to go from the low to full marks on the shop dipstick for the 722 series transmission?
Cheers, Steve

My book says "Distance between MIN and MAX mark on dipstick is approx 0.3 liters ( 10 oz. ) of transmission fluid"
