W210 E320 Water pump R&R

I plan on tackeling this job in a week or two when the temp warms up a bit. In the meantime I would like to arm myself with as much knowledge as possible. I have made this repair once before on my 124 300E, Can anyone tell me how this repair differs? Is the tensioner set-up the same way on this car? Loosen the bolt (14mm ?) on front a few turns then turn the adjuster nut on top to loosen the belt? It looks as though I'm not going to need my Flex tool from Snap-on?!? can anyone offer any advice or suggestions? Or post the procedure order?

Thanks for your help.

If it is an M104 it should be very similar. I think most of the later engines use allen head bolts to attach the pump to the block, so the Snap-On flex won't work. A ball-end socket driver serves the same purpose.

104 engine, from 1994 on, use a tensioning device with internal dampner.
Use a breaker bar and socket (15mm i think?) fit onto tensioner pully and rotate clockwise, remove belt.
you will need to remove power steering pump and swing it to the side.
bolts are 6mm internal hex. good luck

Well, the M104 in my 1995 C280 uses the old style, rubber bushing tensioner with the separate, external shock absorber. It should be relatively obvious which is in th ecar by observation.

Just reread your post. Are you saying after I loosen the locking nut and turn the adjuster rod to use your technique above?

Thanks
