if its the same as the 190e's, it has a cover hiding them near the rear driver's side tire. Not sure if its the same tho.

My 94 E320 has one fuel filter. It is located near the rear on the passenger side under a cover. Remove the screws securing this cover and expose the filter and fuel pump. Use a clamp on the hose between the pump and the filter to prevent fuel spillage; remove the fittings on the inlet and outlet sides of the filter; remove and replace the filter; use new copper washers at the connections. Start the car and check for leaks. Reinstall the cover. Pretty easy. No smoking while doing this!

Filters don't go bad, they trap dirt and plug...
Not changing the fuel filters could be neglect, but it's a benign neglect. Obviously, the Previous Owner didn't have fuel issues, and didn't feel the need to change the filter.
Fuel filters don't expire after a set time and they don't wear out from miles like tires. They trap dirt and eventually won't pass enough fuel. There is no set amount miles at which they must be replaced, since they don't wear out. If the fuel has always been really clean, there is no dirt to trap and they could have an infinite life. ![]() Change 'em if you want, but if there are no signs of fuel starvation, they might not need to be changed... ![]() Best Regards, Jim |

Rahulio,
The 'clamp' you need is available auto parts stores. It is used to pinch the fuel line to prevent flow. Comes in a package of 2 and looks like scissors. Mark |

Thanks to everyone for their replies!
The main reason I am replacing the filter is because I feel that filters get clogged eventually.. does that make sense? ![]() I am having a problem with low RPM, unless I hold down the gas pedal a bit to take it out of its idle mode... I know that the OVP, vaccum hoses, and idle control valve could be culprits, but since I am working on the car as a DIYer, why not change out filters and fluids.. I do all the work by myself, and I love this car, so I see no reason not to pamper the car!!!! ![]() |
