Weird Noise

I have a '90 W126. When I go over a bump or a "dip" in the road there is a noise comming from the suspension. It sounds like there is snow under the wheel wells and the tires are rubbing it off, but of course there is no snow. What could this be? I am putting new springs in the rear tommorrow to see if that could be it. Could this be susp. bushings? Any help would be great.
