It's probably electronic but the only way to tell for sure is to pull it. You can pull it either way. If the instrument pod only wants to come out about six inches or so it's probably a cable. But even then you can usually pull it out far enough to get your hand in there and unscrew it. If it's electronic there's usually a little more room to work with.
