Hello All,
The sunroof (moonroof?) on my E300D had begun vibrating (rattling) when it's fully closed. This doesn't occur all the time but if I go over a bumpy stretch of road it rattles pretty good. The thing operates fine and if I toggle the roof switch a little it'll quit rattling as much.

Any idea what's happened and what I have to do to fix it?

it could the the integrated sunshade, those rattle on occasion.

Actually, that rattles too. Just not as bad.

One thing I forgot to mention is that when the roof is closed all the way, you can push on the glass and it moves up and down quite a bit. I'm assuming that's not the way it's supposed to be and that if I could tighten that then the rattle might stop. I just don't know what's broken that needs fixing.

My C280'S moonroof has been rattoleing away as well on bumpy roads....
I would also be interested in what might be a fix for this. We've had the car from new, and alot of rattles have developed... the first was the rear hat shelf brake light.... thuds with the bass of the speakers..

I see youve owned a W124, which are no doubt much more solidly built than the W210, or W202 like mine. I have a W123, and at 20 yeas of age and nearly the same mileage as my C280, there are NO rattles... im willing to bet that your w124 didnt have mysterious rattles develop either. Just goes to show MB's downfall in quality with the newer models

I will say the fit and finish is still better than most cars, but these "newer" MB's just arent like the old ones...

The glass shouldn't be loose. First check that the screws that fasten the glass are tight. Check this reply for details...
