Shift knob rattles.....

Okay guys, my trans shifter konb is rattling like a an old Volvo's tail pipe!

I have done searches but I am still kinda confused....

I know my 1989 300E has 6 bushing related to the shift linkage...

4 are in the box you can access from the inside of the car
2 are underneath the car, you must raise the car in order to get those replaced.

I plan to replace all...

Can I do the 4 bushings inside the shift box without messing with the underside of the car? I see 4 bolts that look like they will come off.... should I remove the shift knob before removing the housing?
