Taking off Intake Ductwork
Okay, I'm trying to get my air intake off to clean out my EGR valve tubes (advice from these forums to remedy a P140 fault). My problem is I can't figure out how the intake is held on besides one external torx screw on the back right side of the engine. Any advice from those who have done this?
Thanks 2000 E320 |

Air intake
After removing the small torx bolt on the rh valve cover , look down between rear of engine and air intake. There is a plastic tab hoding the fixture at the bottom. take a long screwdriver and Gently push down on this tab. If you push too hard it will break off and usually creates a hole in the intake tube. You will feel it give a little. Then spread apart the clip on the top of the intake tube with the same screwdiver. You will see where it is locked together.Just spread the clips apart. The intake tube will then come away from the EA. There is a hose from the left side of the intake tube going to the left valve cover that must be taken off. I usually take the hose off at the valve cover end and leave the other end attatched. It is usually very brittle,
so be carefull it doesn't split. Then carefully untangle the intake pipe from the engine making sure that you don't break off aforementioned tab. |
