95 e320 Window with attitude
For absoutly no reason the right rear door window decided to not close the last 1.5" Up, down, no unusual noises, just the traditional sound windows make. Same response from both switches. As one hope, I attempt to bribe my two college age daughters to release the family wagon from this dreaded curse, but as much as they'd appreciate the bribe they hadn'd even used the car. With a stern eye and cookie in hand, I confronted my 95 lb. Golden Retriever, "Dylan, we know I never let you stick your nose let alone head out the window, but YOU do know the reason we have a wagon is for YOUR comfort. How abut we make a deal regarding this window?" He ate the cookie and waited patiently for me to open the tailgate so we could go for a ride.
Suggestions are appreciated. Bob PS No use trying to bribe the wife. Her 110k Chrysler T&C Van has cost us nothing while Dylan's Benz is a money pit. |

Yupp....seen it before. From what I recall it's the slide that is attached to the regulator at two points and one of them gave way, so it flips by 180* and causes this particular symptom. Take door trim off and fix it!

I've taken the door panel off. but I don't know what to fix. The window and internal mechanicals are firmly in place when it stops about 1.5" from top. Attached is a photo. Suggestions are appreciated.

Dokta,
Thanks for the response. However, I can't turn it due to 2 stopers. Could you be more specific. I don't want to break it or have to pay the MB dealer to do a simple job. Thanks, Bob |

Hi,
If you can't fix it with the regulator installed, you will have to take it out. Before you do that however try to unclip the slide to take the tension of the twisted support piece. After that you really should be able to re-locate the support and figure out a way to re-attach it. You may have to get a mechanic to support you. All the best, Dokta |
