1989 300e vs 300ce curb weight
MB lists a 1989 300e with a curb weight 45 pounds less than a 300ce.
The 300ce has a 3 inch shorter wheel base.... any idea where its weight comes from? |

More underbody structure in the coupe because it doesn't have a B-pillar. Check out the weight of a 124 convertible!

thanks... holy smokes...the convertible weighs 700 more pounds!!
I love the lack of a b-pillar, true 2-door hardtop.... |

Besides underbody strenghtening, are the pillars and the roof also stronger in the coupe?
Just recall that the C pillar is seamless joining the quarter panel, and looks kind of neat, whereas in the sedan the pieces are 'detached'. |
