I have a 1973 450slc that has been in storage for quite some time. I am getting it ready to sell and a problem has developed. When I start the car it will run fine but after about 15 or so miles, long after the car has reached operating temp, it starts to stall or trip at about 2000 rmps. The first time this happened, it progressed until the car would no longer go over 20mph. I believe it is a fuel delivery problem. I replaced the fuel filter and it helped a little. Does any body know the required fuel pressure, the fuel pump sound a bit loud and it may need to be replaced. The car only has 42000 miles on it.
Also if anybody has an idea what the problem might be, please let me know. Thanks, dberry |
