A Plug for Adsit Rebuilt Transmission W124

My transmission died after only 104,000 miles so I got another 722.369 from Adsit. I got the name from this web site but noticed some not so complimentary posts (for parts other than transmissions). Anyway, I got it for $1295 + 159 shipping, it arrived in 3 days, and my mechanic (Gerardo's in Roslindale, MA) put it in for $650. His only complaint was some of the copper washers that came with it were the wrong size but he replaced those. It works perfectly. Adsit did very well for me.

Sounds like you made out great!

Adsit was around long before a lot of on-line MB parts sites came to be.

To be sure, you usually don't see testamonials posted...only complaints. So it might seem that the bad posts reflect the true nature of the company...not so.

Same with this forum. When there are no problems, people don't post how "everything runs great" each day, but when a befuddling problem crops up, a thread is born. If you made the same conclusion regarding MBs based on the threads in Tech Help, you would think MBs are very shoddy pieces of work!

I should use the search function more often. I just posted re looking for a trans and your post hits on the head. One guy did say to search here so I did looking for bad comments but found yours.

I bought some minor parts from them. They always seem to know what their talking about but they did screw up one thing....but fixed it no charge no complaint. I ordered headlights one of em came without a part in the box. No questions they just replaced it. (in all honesty I kinda suspect the mechanic at the shop where my guy was installing them but no proof and i went on his word that it wasnt in the box).

So I will likely use adsit to replace my trans also failed at 120,000. Sl320 trans, 94. I think the mb answer to the porsche tiptronic. (never be first in fancy new stuff) My two cents.

I have a question. What is the warranty on the trany?
Do they offer extended warranty and do you know how much?
Maybe just give me their e-mail address or phone number?
To the other members does anyone have a source for tranys in So Cal or San Diego Ca at resonable prices?
Thank'S
Rich

Funny you should mention Adsit.

I had to drop the new SDL off in Raleigh at the mechanic due to excessive oil consumption. Wouldn't make it back to NY.

He commented that one of his customers used Adsit as the source for a rebuilt trans. He did the labor but did not guarantee the labor if the part was NG.

At the present time, the customer is on his fourth installation of a rebuilt transmission from Adsit. The company never got it right and doesn't seem to be able to rebuild one of these that works for this fellow.

The labor costs to R & R four transmissions is killing him.

As others have mentioned, Adsit certainly has "issues". Sure, you can get a unit that functions perfectly well. But, do you want to roll the dice?

Also, in discussion with the mechanic, there is no such thing as a "total rebuild" of these transmissions. The cost is prohibitive. So, they use what they can and replace what they must, and hope to get 50K out of it. It will never match the durability of a new unit.
