Bought a 1991 500SL and have had nothing but problems! Here's one...

The other night I was on the highway with cruise control set at about 76. I put my blinker on to change lanes and the car accelerated! It was intermittent (this happened a few times and other times I used the blinker with no acceleration problem).

Then, this morning I put my blinker on and all of the dash lights flickered on for a split second.

I've searched all thorugh the site and find can't find anything similar. Any ideas?

I was having trouble with my 96 SL. The cruise control and blinker assembly are all one piece inside the steering column. Mine would turn off the cruise control when I hit a bump, I replaced my steering wheel and while in there I tightened that assembly. It gets loose over the years and don't overtighten it, it is plastic and can break. If you just got your car, be patient. It will take awhile to work the bugs out and if you need any help get in touch with a club member! good luck!

Your cluster probably blinks because of a faulty capacitor in its voltage regulating circuit. Very easy and inexpensive to fix yourself. And I wouldn't be surprised if the cruise control anomaly was related.
