Power windows stuck open on 560SL

The power windows on my "87 560 SL stopped working. I did a search on this website and got a little help, but I'm a little dense and I need a little more. The window switches are 1 yr. old so I think they're good. I checked the fuses and they look good also. While doing the search I learned that there may be a power window relay under a dash panel on the right side. Is this so? If there is a relay for these windows could someone plase explain to me specificly how to get this panel off, where exactly is this relay, and how to identify it.Also how could I find out if this is the problem. I'd appreciate any help!

Thanks,affab

Accourding to the manual, they are in the "fuse/relay box" (behind the glove compartment, you will probably have to remove the glove box, not a big deal) and the wiring diagram states that their positions are subject to change. However, the relay should be marked code "10". Hope this helps. Please let everyone know if it does.

Strife,I pulled out the glovebox. Are the relay(s) located relatively deep in, two silver 1 in. square boxes? If thats them I'm assuming they just pull out like a turn signal relay. How can I tell if they're bad without replacing them first?

Thanks, affab

P.S. thanks for the advise on the brake cleaner to clean parts of the engine.( I had no oil on the engine just very dull aluminum parts)

Before replacing the relay,
check for supply voltage at the relay seats.
If no voltage check the fuse(s), making sure they have seated correctly. They like to corrode causing strange little problems like you describe.
If voltage is present check for supply voltage from the switch
if yes jumper the relay block pins
if no change the switch or find out why no power is coming from that circut
if the windows move when jumpered change the relay
if they dont
check for voltage at the motor
if no check wiring from relay to motor
if yes change the motor

Thanks for the help folks.I did not have the know how nor the equipment to test the voltage on the power window circut. So.......down to my trusty MB expert and $140.00 later vio la! One replaced relay. Windows now work again.

Thanks Again

B.T.W. While looking around for the relay, behind the glove box and under the dash panel.I found about 100 corn kernels,a few small nuts and insulation all balled up.Kind of like a nest made by a mouse. The litte rascals at some point took up residence inside the bowels of my car while it was stored for the winter.
NEXT YEAR THEY'LL BE FEISTING ON MOUSE POISON!
