I've heard something about the two different types of silverstars, are both kinds readily available in the US?

go to the dealership, they will give you a mileage form and they must sign it. you fill it out send it in. about 2-3 months later or when they feel like it MBUSA will send it to you.

i called to check on mine, the people said it had been sent out. i called them back 2 weeks later to ask again, then they said there were some problems with shipping, yadda, yadda.

i *****ed a little, 3 days later i had one. 2 days after that i received another one.

i have a spare.

BTW osram silverstars are brighter and put out MORE USABLE light and last longer than the sylvania's.
i'm in the lighting business, osram silverstars are the most popular bulbs, period.

You can also get the High Mileage app directly from MBUSA.com. I did that on three of my other Benzes. You need to provide them with the VIN and engine numbers.

They do take a while (sometimes) in getting the emblem and certificate to you and *****ing (sometimes) seems to help.

But be nice. As far as I kow, M-B is the only company that will send out a free high mileage enblem. the emblem is really nice looking and so is the certificate.

Can you get the OSRAM S* here in the US? Where do you get them?

Thanks.

I hate to disagree regarding the High Mileage Award (actually I like disagreeing, I am just that way ) But in the past few years I have had three High Mileage Award certificates for my Benzes. Each time I have directly through MB of North America. No dealer, no middle man. Just me and MB of North America. Maybe I am more trustworthy

Either way, it is a very nice thing that Benz does for its long-time owners. Like the lifetime, free Roadside Assistance Program (RAP) it is one of the nicer privileges of being a Benz owner.

you're the first person i have ever heard of getting the award without dealer verification!

good for you.

mbusa probably has your current mileage... if you're abusing the roadside assitance program. LOL

you know a dealer representative verifies your mileage on every roadside call.

i am however certain you're not more trustworthy than me

You are probably right about my not being more trustworthy than you. I am a lawyer and a prosecutor to boot. How much untrustworthy can you possibly get???

I've never used the Benz's RAP. None of my Benzes has ever left me stranded out on the road.

I guess that I am not only trustworthy, but I am also lucky.

The Katmac Headlights use H4 so the Silverstar's will fit.

I think that M-B changed emblems again. The first ones were silver and blue (like the one I had on my former 300SD and 420SEL). Then they changed to gold and blue (like the one on Ebennz's car and on my daughter's current 300TE). I think that M-B is back to blue and silver (which makes more sense for Benz anyway).

I am glad that you are getting yours. It is a neat thing to have and it shows others how far our cars can travel if they are properly taken care of.

I don't think the silverstars are that great, for the money I personally like the X-Tra Vision by Sylvania. Xenon is too high for what it is.
