E320 Wagon AC Blower is slow

The Blower in my E320 Wagon seems to be running very slow and while the indicator on the AC unit shows the fan speed increasing the motor does not come close to moving the volume of air the blower on my C280 does. Wide open you can just feel the airflow 12" from the center outlets. The climate control unit seems to be working (ie increases fan speed gradually when put on Auto )
Needless to say the Air conditioning is innefective.Neither the recirculator or Filter affect the speed of the fan
I'd appreciate any help in getting this troubleshot
and is teh blower easily accesed for replacement purposes? ( it was 96Degrees today )
Thanks in advance
BOB

the most common cause of what you describe is failure of the blower motor regulator. on the 210 chassis there is a modification that is done to update the regulator to the new style,if you want to do the job right you will need the updated blower motor, updated blower regulator and the updated cover for the blower housing.

Help again I Can't find the regulator

I open the passenger side up and can't find the regulator. I removed the blower expecting to find it mounted there but there was just the blower and th ereplacable air filters
where should I be looking
Also teh motor was not bound up but hard to turn . if I spin it by hand it won't go even a single turn after I release it. Hopefully it might just need lubrication

I had a similar problem on my E320. I replaced the faulty regulator with a new one. Since it was the updated regulator I also had to replace the blower. I kept the old blower, and I just tried your test. When turning it by hand it spins quickly then stops quickly after a second or two. I'm not sure if that helps you or not.

If you're regulator really is OK, I'll sell you my old blower. It would save me the trouble of posting it on ebay. Send me a private message if you're interested.

blower doesn't blow...

Help! Similar problem for me this past week- 98 E300 W210

Power to harness on Red and Orange wires but blower motor won't blow when I tested with my test light. (Note: blower does work when hotwired with jumper cables.)
Should there be some voltage on the Yellow wire? (what does this one do?)
Also, the black and blue wires are not grounded, therefore blower won't blow?

Is the problem in the black plastic thing at the end of the harness?
What does the blower regulator do?
Where is the blower regulator (under hood or dash)?
What does it look like?

Help sincerely appreciated (it's 90F now and I'll need the heater blowing before you know it here in NY). Thanks in advance.

here is a picture

sorry for the delay on the picture had to get it below 64K
as you can see there is no regulator obvious.the blower is remover and above that is a paper filter of some sort.Tried access from under the hood but that appears to be a real production requiring removal of some of teh windshield gasketing .
There is a four wire plug connecting to the blower Red and Black heavy guage and two others ( can't get to them right now) that are router up on the right side of the glovebox Upper right of photo.
I've looked behind teh glovebox and everywhere else I could and can't find anuthing that looks like teh regulators I've seen.

The Dealer won't do it , but the Indies do , and it seems to be fine , as long as one first verifies the motor with a draw test .
SB might jump in here ...

1998 E320

I just replaced my blower regulator with a p/n
Blower Regulator Heater : A/C p/n R2022-65372
In Stock Behr (OEM) $314.00 241.90

This is from a 98 S-class mercedes.
It needed some minor rewiring (simple cut, solder or splice- color by number type stuff) to swap harnesses.

It fits perfectly after I swapped the wire harnesses from my E onto the new S blower regulator. Quick test run & button up the underside of the dash!

AC is fully restored working good as new, 89F and humid today
