300SEL Electrical problem, need help

I have a 89 300SEL with 96K, and the guages went out a few minutes after starting and driving the car. I called my mechanic and he told me to check the fuse. I did and it was bad, so I replaced it. As soon as I started the car, it blew the fuse again. The only electrical thing that has been changed in the last month is the control unit for the fuel pump. The car had sat in the airport for 4 days prior to this, and everything was working fine. Any ideas??

Thanks for the help,

Classic1
