1994 E320

I have a 1994 E320 and only defrost was working in the car, no matter what button I pushed. The temperature adjustment worked fine, adjusting the temperature to A/C and heat. Both systems worked fine.

I took the push button out to replace it and put a used one in. It made a humming noise and did not work.

I put the old one back on and now there is no funtions at all, but I can still feel the A/C compressor kick on.

If you have any input on this matter specifically please respond. If you do not know what your talking about and want to chat please refrain.

Thanks

i would check for vac leaks and also very closely check your fuses.
does the fan work? if i remember correctly you pushbutton unit cannot be
resoldered easily. check the other stuff first.

What about the fact that now the blower motor is not working?

Check the blower resistor in the engine compartment right next to the left front tire. It is a black plastic rectangular block about 2" long and about 3/4 " wide with a metal strip inside. Can't help you with the other problem.

tried to answer you privately but something there is locking up my computer.
i have no info at home to help further until tuesday. i'm bothered by the fact you had no blower problems until you went in. you still have to deal with the vac leaks though. ain't it fun?

Blower Motor inop

Inspect the area around your battery, mainly the battery tray. If you see an abnormal amount of corrosion then the "vacuum reservoir" line may have been eaten by battery acid. The line is routed from the check valve on the drivers side of the vehicle to the right side fender passing under the battery tray. Since the 124 body followed the 123 body in numerical order it was only natural to have a problem jump the evolution chain. The good news is that only 1 line can become infected/affected by the dreaded Acid Plague!

For the blower motor issue you might want to double check the external strip-fuse, a 30Amp. CAUTION: You may receive the 80 Amp strip fuse by mistake, always confirm the rating prior to installing the replacement fuse.

I have a few other thoughts but I’ll wait for a reply on the condition of the fuse before sharing those with you.
