1989 420 SEL Transmission

On a 1989 420 SEL, 250,000 KM, when going about 20 KPH, sometimes there is feeling that the transmission is disengaging and re-engaging, it is sort of a choppy or jerky movement. There is a sound of it lightly clunking in and out. At other speeds, everything seems fine. Reverse is fine.

All exterior seals were replaced about a year ago. Fluid and filter were supposed to have been changed at the same time, about 15K KM ago. Fluid level may be a bit high when hot, it's quite difficult to tell the level. Just had the motor mounts replaced.

The engine purrs like a kitten, very smooth, no rough idle.

Any suggestions?
