The directions on my tube of locktite are not all that specific as to the proper way to apply the product--essentially it says to put some on the threads then assemble. All the threads, or just at the very end of the bolt? Any of you old hands have a more detailed description of the proper application of locktite? (I just installed some new rotors on my wagon and used locktite on the caliper bolts, and torqued them to specs).

Thanks
Bill

The caliper bolts should use Blue Loctite. I would clean the bolts and just put some blue loctite on the portion of the threads that actually are covered. I clean these bolts with the steel brush that's on one side of my bench grinder.

Good luck,

for that size of a bolt a drop or 2 in the middle of the bolt is efficient. if you drop it in the middle it will evenly spread between the nut. make sure your parts are oil and dust free. however I don't know weather you should use the blue or the red stuff. I have had tons of experience with loctite in the assembly of paintball guns and other pneumatic devices. one thing I know for sure,, don't use loctite red on aluminum to steel parts. you could strip the aluminum.
good luck,
Adam

Thank you Larry and Adam for your responses.

Basically, I did as Larry suggested (although I manually wire brushed the bolts prior to application since I don't have a bench grinder w/brush). So it looks like I'm good to go....and I did use the blue locktite, not the red.

Thanks again for the help, gents

Bill
