need help with E320 Wagon shocks

I have a 98 E320 wagon that needs shocks in the front and I assumed that they were not active suspension because I only looked at the fronts. When I jacked it up I realized that it has a level adjusting shocks in the rear and I can't seem to find any mention of them when I look to buy shocks
My question is are the fronts the same whether it has this level adjusting system or not and what is the advisabiolity of changing only the fronts for the time being as I don't want to mess with the hydraulics
Thanks in Advance
BOb

ALL MB station wagons sold in the USA have leveling systems on the rear.

Front shocks part number for non-4 matic wagons are 210-320-31-30 (BOGE 36-a19-0)

Unless the rear shocks are severely leaking, they do not require replacement.

Same with the fronts.

And, they (rears) are $400 each.

need help with E320 wagon shocks

You might want to check your self-leveling system. There are two ball (?) can't remember the correct name but my M-B mechanic said the problem is probably there. This check might be cheaper than replacing all the shocks.

Don't think Volvo on this where the Boge Nivomats indeed wear out.

The struts on your Mercedes last a long time.

No known replacement and not really a good idea.
