need help with E320 Wagon shocks

I have a 98 E320 wagon that needs shocks in the front and I assumed that they were not active suspension because I only looked at the fronts. When I jacked it up I realized that it has a level adjusting shocks in the rear and I can't seem to find any mention of them when I look to buy shocks
My question is are the fronts the same whether it has this level adjusting system or not and what is the advisabiolity of changing only the fronts for the time being as I don't want to mess with the hydraulics
