Wifes Car Just Stalls Need Some Help! Please!

Thank you for checking out this post and hopefullly I can get some ideas on how to fix this issue.

My wifes car is a 1995 S320 when she comes up to a stop light or starts to slow down the car just dies.

When she is driving at speed things are fine but lets say she lets off the gas it just dies.

I am not sure what direction to go in, any help would be much appreciated.

She is starting to complain and I am going to have to do something. Wifes that complain, is just aweful.. SMILE

Go to an autozone and get the codes pulled. It is free. They'll tell you what component may be bad.
Does it run real rough before it dies, or it simply quites running? Does it idle ok once it is fully warmed up - i.e. 80c?

My wife says it just stops running. It does not run rough or anything but just stops running.

Autozone can pull the codes on a Mercedes S320? I had no idea of that. That in itself is really great news to find out!

I recently had a similar problem with my ML. After it was warmed up, and only after it was warmed up, and only intermitently at that, the engine would shuddder and die when in gear and brakes applied. I thought it might be something with the EGR system. Went to auotzone, and the codes came back EGR Flow or something like that. So I pulled the EGR valve off and sure enough, the area around the plunger was completed caked up with carbon. Cleaned it all out. Pulled the tube too to se if it was plugged, but it was ok. After I cleaned the seat and surrounding area, I tested it with my mitivac, and it seemed fine. Reinstalled and the problem went away.
But it most definately shook, rattled, and rolled before it died.

Go to autozone and see what it comes back with.

I called the only autozone I could find open tonight and they can only get codes from cars 1996 and newer. The lady did tell me that other Autozones my have the code reader I need. So I will call more in the morning.

The next step is to find the EGR valve, where do you think that might be? I had a 300sd (Diesel) for years and knew that car inside and out but I am very new to GAS cars and sometimes feel helpless. Any help would much be apprecaited.

I haven't a clue where it might be on that engine. On the ML, it was in the back of the intake manifold, but it has a V6. I think yours has an L6.

You can also try other national chains like AutoZone. They pulled the codes on my 91.
