Unhappy replaced ovp now battery and abs light on?

Please help. My husband is ready to take my car to the junk yard!

I have a 1994 C280 with 82K miles and I love it but it has been acting up. It was stalling and I read the forum, my husband replaced the OVP and now the battery light and ABS light come on. He said the battery and connection are fine.

From what I've gathered on this board it may be the brushes are bad or the alternator? But the lights were not on before he replaced the OVP thing, could he have done something wrong??

Thank you for your help, it is much appreciated!!!!
Robyn

What happens when you put back in the old relay? I had the ABS light coming on occasionally, coupled with a low idle in my 89 300TE. After replacing the OVP relay the problems stopped. It makes me wonder if you got a bad relay.
I wouldn't rule out worn brushes/bad regulator either.

I told him to check the fuse, he said he would in the morning! I wanted to go out there right now and look at it but I don't know what I'm looking for? Anyway, thank you so much, hopefully we'll know more tomorrow.

He wants me to buy a Toyota!!

I wish I could fix it myself!

Well the fuse was okay. Today I was driving it and suddenly all the digital interior lights went out and the car wouldn't go over 20 mph. He's recharging the battery and more frustrated than ever.

I laughed at the divorce him!! I'm going to try and have him check the brushings and the alternator tomorrow. He thinks the ovp r? thing he put on was a bad part?

The fuse might look good, but it may be bad! Check it with a voltmeter if plugged in, or an ohm meter if out.
I went through this on my SL. I visually checked the fuse, moved on, and wasted a bunch of folk's time in the SL forum. They finally got me to check it with a meter, it was bad, replaced it, and all my problems went away.

Still down!

This morning the car wouldn't start at all, dead battery even though charged all night? Emailed Phil here at ShopForum and he's sending us a new ovp. My husband also said to order a new alternator??????????? We're practically not speaking because he keeps nagging me about a TOYOTA, if we could just get this little thing fixed then I think everything else would be okay!!

Now I'm with Manny on this one - you definately need a new man. This guy can not think straight. A Toy instead of a Benz? Because a battery went bad? Tell him this sweety - batteries go bad on Toys too. And you know what, go to a Toy stealership - thay actually have a parts department that keeps their clerks busy. Why do I say this? Becuase SOMEBODY is buying all those parts. The quality hype is prevalent, but Toyotas break down too.

Toys are good, but they breakdown. And frankly, I'd rather drive a Benz that breaks down every once in a while than to drive around in a tinny-sounding, back jarring, quirky accelerating, wind noisey, Japanese-feel and smell Toyota anyday!

And to cover for when your Benz breaks, have a second one handy at all times. I do!

Did hubby disconnect the OVP and check for current draw from the battery? Maybe something else is wrong?

Okay, I'm still laughing. Today when I had to drive my daughter's car to the gym I told him I didn't want any more Toyota talk. He has a Harley, not a Honda so that makes us even.

I'm not going to read him your reply because today he told me to "check with my little internet buddies" to see if what he was doing was right. I told him I would! I'll keep you posted, thank you!!! Robyn
