They work fine on both of mine. Most of them don't work because people don't fix them when they break. The W126 at least has two vac systems so leaks in the door locks are simpler to track down.

Afaik MB used vac locks right up to 1999, with the last of the W140's. Do the W210's have vac locks? I never noticed.

Both my W123s work just fine. My 300D stopped working a couple of years ago, and it took a couple of hours to track it down and fix it (fuel door). These are usually easy and cheap to fix if you are willing to spend a little time.

SDL works 100%, SD is odd... only passenger door opens all and locks all. There is a problem gettin' the power to the driver door.

The harness was melted it appeared (NO clue how), so next outing to the boneyard I'll have myself a new harness to install from there into the vehicle. Then they should be 100% on the SD.

Had and '89, a '90 and now a '92. Locks have all worked fine. My '90 required a minor adjustment to the physical driver's lock (somehow got bent inside the door) and we preventing it from locking. But I've yet to see one on my W124's fail. Of course.. I'm not jinxed!

Wink Vac door locks

Locks on my 76 450SEL do not work; I just need to find the leak point and fix it tho' --- I don't think it is a major problem. My 89 420SEL locks work perfectly, as do the electric ones on my 99ML. The Corvette is set to lock and unlock when the electronic remote is near the car -- no problem with that system!

Don't be quick to pull door panel to fix door lock

The driver side door lock on my '93 190e was not working while all 4 others were just fine. Obviously the vacuum pump was OK and I suspected bent linkages or some such thing..... but before pulling the door panel off for access I dripped some WD40 and oil down the door lock post after first unscrewing it. voila, the key again turned and the post came down and locked again.

cheers, guenter

ps never had a problem with locks on my '89 300e, and this problem was minor.

Mine work, '91 300SE, thats how I also found out that the alarm works too. I did have a minor glitch for a little while, only driver door would lock/unlock, passenger door and bootlid would work correctly for all. I guess the 'lil gremlin' left because suddenly and without me doing anything to the system driver door works for all others
BTW, my clock and all gauges work, not bad for a 14YO car

Anyone have an idea where to start in resolving this problem?

I friend of mine has the same problem in their 420SEL but I would like to have some ideas where to start before tearing the door apart.

Join the party. Maybe the handle is bad or corroded? I wish I could figure out how to pop it out.

I'm almost to the point where I'm going to install a keyless system to lock/unlock them all at once so I don't have to deal with the doors. Yet, I really need to fix it properly first.

Since this thread, I have the 420... they all work there too.

Mine work fine; always have, I figure, since the PO did not repair anything that wasn't necessary. Prety good reliability: 20 years. What do you want?
