the 560 and 420 should be physically the same from the outside so they should interchange. were they ever offered the same years? i always like to swap the same year engines if possible to minimize electrical differences.

They may LOOK similar... but they are not. The 420 is a M116 block.. the 560 is a M117. Not interchangeable either.... and would have to be rewired in order to fit.
My recommendation ins find a good 420 engine *IF* your car is in great shape besides the motor. IF not... sell or part out... and buy another 420 or 560. Good luck
