Thumbs up PS Pulley tool... where can I find one?

This is to pop the pulley off various gasser and diesel steering pumps from the 80s so I can replace the front seal. It doesn't look like I can use a normal pulley removal tool.

108-589-02-33-00 is the part number.

Get the nut loose and backed off enough to protect the shaft threads, then a quick, solid rap with a drilling hammer will knock that puppy loose from the taper.

No idea where you can find the specific tool though.

Not sure, but...

is this the tool you are looking for?

If so, check with:

http://www.samstagsales.com/mercedes.htm

Scroll down to Steering, or search for "pully" (It's spelled that way on the website).

If it's not the right one, I'm sure calling would set you off in the right direction. I am getting ready to place an order with the site. I'll report back if you don't beat me to it.

I tried out the above tool, and it broke (the lip bent). Then I bought the better tool (more expensive, the one with the bolt in the center and a collar that goes around the lip of the center of the pulley), and it worked like a charm, with almost no effort (no, the first tool didn't loosen it).

If it's out of stock at Sam Stag, an alternative source might be:

http://www.baumtools.com

A lot of WEB MB specialty tool suppliers source their products through Baum.

Pulley puller for power steering

I used this tool last week on my W123 PS power steering pump pulley and it worked fine.

http://www.harborfreight.com/14-piece-gear-puller-set-30305.html

I set it up, got it tight, and whacked on the center bolt with a hammer, I would say, harder than tapping, but not really hammering. You know, whacking. The technical term. After 500 whacks, the pulley popped off. No damage to tool at all. Pulley installed on new PS pump no problem and works fine.
