Help with Sway Bar Links 88560
Can't seem to find during search -
I've heard this an "easy" repair I have removed the wheel, caliper, and rotor. How do I access the bottom bolt (nut) of the link? Do I need to remove the emergency brake shoes? Thanks so much? Mike

It's an easy repair on my 97 s320, you dont even have to wake the wheel off.. perhaps you're going about it wrong.

The link has threaded rod on each end. When installed I would imagine the bottom attaches similar to the top - with a nut. I can't visualize how to get at the nut to secure the bottom of the link. The top is easy. The bottom attachment point seems to be between the dust shield and the e-brake shoe?
I feel like an idiot!

There is no nut on the link where it attaches to the axle carrier---the carrier itself is threaded to accept the bolt portion of the link . Just use the correct size open end wrench and loosen as normal. If you need to see a picture go to www.mb.braingears.com and look at job 32-310 on 126 disk 2. Good luck. Mark

I am an idiot...
Thanks Mark. I just came indoors after discovering exactly that which you reported. I removed the bottom of the link thinking I'd hear a nut fail in to an "unretrievable environ" and discovered that the carrier in fact in threaded to accept the link bolt. What thru me off was the new links came with 2 nuts
Thanks again. Job took 20 minutes, after I got me act together! No more clunks!
