My e420 (1995) starts ok then dies after 10 minutes

My 1995 e420 started running bad after warm up and then would be OK now it starts ok then after 10 minutes it shakes and dies and I have had to limp home on what seemed like two cylinders. when I put in neutral will rev fine. This has me stumped and I love this car. Help!!! thanks
