01 W210 AC Blower Motor Regulator question

2001 E320 Wagon, all wheel drive

Hello,

I did a search on 210 blower motor, and found that most who had problems were 1998 and earlier.

My mechanic mentioned that half way through 1998, MB changed the regulator to a different style. He says it's an easy fix, the part is $280 with one hour of labor.

I'm thinking (not that I want to take business away from my mechanic) that if it's so easy, why don't I do it...only thing is, I couldn't find any instructions online and was wondering if anyone could help?

When I do a search, either here or a search engine, the only instructions I find are for "early w210" repairs (with the W140 regulator mod). Nothing for the later cars. I'd hate to get in over my head, but at the same time, I'm usually pretty good at DIY repairs. Any help or advice would be great, thanks for your time!!!
