Code C1140 Steering Angle Sensor N49

Hey guys this has been dropped in my lap. A Techdidn't install this Airbag Squib correctly. I replaced the part and now the SRS light doesn't come on. Now this code comes on. Not quite sure where it is located ,but WIS told me that it was behind the instrument cluster, but on this model I believe the location has been changed. Upon installing the part, I noticed that one of the plugs behind the sgub, were not used. (white in color w/ four holes, as if it connects to something). I believe that this is the steering angle sensor or that the sensor plugs into this unit. But cannot confirm, since I didn't do the work. I can't get intouch with the Tech.
Please see attached picture. The screwdriver is pointing to it. This is from a 2001 CLK 430.Please help!

If I have the scenario down correctly, there is nothing on the air bag "clock spring" that connects to the white connector, in which case they sold you the wrong "clock spring", they sold you one for a car without, oh heck, whatever the light is thats coming on, the one that keeps your car from skidding sideways down the road......(stability control)
Do you have the old part to compare the new one to? You may also be able to get a good P/N off the old part.

Unhappy C1140

Thanks Gilly!! I don't have the old parts as the shop before me started the job. I went down to my local dealership and all of the clock springs that they had in stock only had one connection which was yellow. They said that there were only two different units available depending on the year of the car. I saw both variations of the two and neither one had two plugs on the back side of the clock spring. I believe also that the original clock spring had two plug connection but I can't confirmed as I don't have a picture and I wasn't the one who pulled it off. Tried talking to the other shop to see if they had it laying around the shop but they were of no help whatsoever. What you're saying is right along the lines of what I'm thinking but I am having a hard time confirming that theory!! If you have any other ideas let me know. Thanks in advance. I hate going behind someone else work.

OK, talked to a buddy back at the dealership I worked at, at it jarred a few memory cells loose. Actually what I think is going on is you need TWO parts for this. The yeller connector is for the clockspring for the airbag. The white one is for the steering angle sensor, what parts dept refers to as the "lock angle" sensor. The clock spring and "lock angle" kind of fit together. He even gave me a parts number, he says try 001-542-39-18, which superceeds to 002-542-65-18. I think they just showed you a few different versions of the clock spring, the parts buddy did say there are a few different numbers on the clock spring, he couldn't give me a good number on yours without the VIN, but make sure you have the correct clock spring obviously. It appears all 208s maybe had the ESP system (which is the name I was trying to remember earlier, ESP, electronic stability program). I am guessing the ESP light is on? Once you install that you will just need to normalize the angle sensor by turning the wheel a few times lock to lock and should be good to go.

Thanks alot I owe you one. I will try those part numbers tommorow when the stealership opens. I'll keep you posted on the results. Oh and yes I did forget to mention that the ESP,BAS lights are on. I never got a code for those two but all information is important when you're trying to solve a problem.
