Keyless Lock/Unlock Install & Multi-switch
I purchased a keyless lock/unlock for my W124 1992 400E. Looks as thought installation is pretty straight forward with the exception of wiring to the steering wheel mounted multi-switch. Not that the wiring itself is complex, but getting to the multi-switch looks like a substantial project in itself (steering wheel & under dash panel removals...yikes!). Didn't find much on this in searches for "keyless alarm" or "multiswitch", so my questions are as follows:
1. Can this switch be accessed in any other way (to tap into the circuit without all steps leading to the assumed need for complete removal)? I think no.
2. Related to the multiswitch: Does this switch carry the full electrical load for the signal lamps, or does it have microswitches to relays that actually power the signal lamps. If relays, where are the relays located (and could I tap in the system at a more convenient location)?
3. Any other options known out there? I'm thinking a "chirp", in lieu of blinking signals that tapping into the multiswitch provides.
I would very much appreciate your inputs......Scott
