W140 overheating

Hi all,

Recently changed the wiring harness and now the engine overheats. Seems like the thermostat doesn't even open and was wondering if the temp sensors wires have orientations since they can be plugged either way. Any chance that the sensors have gone bad or the thermostat itself? Thanks.
