Which ever way, we are suggesting and there is no implied guarantee that what we say will totally fix "your" issue. Research, research, research. Or pay a mechanic to do it for you.

Personally I have saved a crapload of money with these forums.[/QUOTE]

Same here, I'd be in a litter box full of you know what if it wasn't for the Brethern of The Forum...

when i'm reading a thread and it's obvious to me that there has been conflicting info given.i will shortly and concisely add my weight behind what i know to be the correct answer.i doubt anyone is deliberately posting incorrect answers to questions.i'm sure that they are always giving it their best shot.[two or three or four heads are always better than one]

totally agree with david. i've been here for quite a while, i believe no one ever intentionally misguided anyone.

this thread is uncalled for, unfortunately i have to respond accordingly.

Personaly this forum has saved me many thousands. But you get what you pay for and this forum is free... I don't think anyone should try to work on there Mercedes without a FSM. With said FSM you can then see the proper procedures, and use the forum to clear up things that may not understand.

If you do not feel comfortable working on a Mercedes bring it to a shop.

Many of the topics I see discussed here, I've seen on the job many times before. For the most part, I consider this to be a pretty well informed and resourceful group of people. Most of the advice is very good. Occasionally the topics of discussion are very subjective (best oil, tires, brake pads, etc), but for straight-forward jobs, like a water pump or evaporator, this Forum can be a goldmine for a DIYer.

What prompted this thread?????????

What prompted this thread?????????

My 2 cents, this forum has been a tremendous help for me.... there's a wealth of knowledge from the many who have years of experience and share their know how.....

Just like anything, one must use their common sense b4 attempting anything. If not technically, mechanically inclined have a shop do it.........

Not to belabour this thread, but I just got back from changing the battery in the family grocery-getter ('88 Mazda 929), about which #1 son (22yrs old) called in the middle of my favorite TV show last night to inform that the battery was totally dead due to his leaving the lights on for about 4 hours (temp is -21C). So I hear him ask if it would 'charge itself' if left alone? Nooooo, I said, and then proceeded to teach some 12V basics, many of which I learned on this forum and 2 others that I frequent.....Point is that if you compare forums like this, they are populated with a very diverse range of folks with all kinds of skill levels and age groups from all over the world. There is no way that anyone can describe this diversity accurately, and the same applies to the information shared. For my part, I have come to really enjoy helping others, and have been rewarded many times over from the knowledge provided to me when I needed it. Anyone remember when we had to get everything from hard copy? The internet is like nothing ever before IMO....and just because it's a Mercedes, doesn't change a thing. When it's not working 'right', I run to this forum for help and have never been disappointed.
