Wow, do want!

Thanks for the pics Raymond

Also,

"There are several threads on BenzWorld about these Asian projector lights and how water/moisture gets into them."

That's the EXACT consensus I was referring to about aftermarket quality

pos,
just so i'm not misunderstood, the Depo you see above on my purp...i mean
"Bordeaux Red" (said with a flair) E320 arrived and I installed it and powered
on. I was aghast at the poor performance of the beam. It was uneven and
had hot/dead spots; the light coverage us poor. I purchased the Silverstars
but that did little to improve things: i saw more distinct, hot/dead spots.

So i mulled things over for a day or so and contacted Zam2000 for background
info. I used to drive auto rallyes so appreciate good lighting. I opted to spend
the additional $ on true, HID projectors.

The cost breakdown was as follows...

Depo headlight - $350 (can be had for $100 less on Ebay)
E55 projectors - $175
Hella gen3 ballasts - $200
D2S Phillips bulbs - $90

The retrofit took me 2+ weeks because I was unsure of how to do this.
Upon follow up, I can now do the job in about 48 hrs.

Next time I do this, I'll take photos. I type up instructions for another guy...

p.s. you'll see in the above photo that i wired in turn signal wing mirrors as well. that only took about 3 hrs...including mistakes.

I Would also recommend to Contact Zam2000 aka Huy re the headlights...

As Huy came over to my House and we made up a Sweet Set of HIDs for my Smart Car..Used the Stock OE Smart headlight housings then added the projectors..Results were UNREAL!

He has a set of modded HIDS on his W210 contact him for a Night time demo..

I've found at least a half dozen different ebay sellers selling these projector beam style headlights, and there are at least two different manufacturers as they differ slightly in appearance.

Here's one style:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270099437768&rd=1&rd=1

And here's another:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=160095803675&rd=1&rd=1

They are all about $200. I don't know what the difference is between these and the set that Performance Products sells for about $700.

Is it me or have those headlamps no case, unlike the original MB parts?

The MB headlamps have everything sealed, sealed, and then sealed again for safety. Those headlamps above look about as waterproof as toilet paper.

They don't always show the back of the headlights, so you can't see the case.

Here's one auction where they show the back side, and they appear to look the same as original headlights.

I'd sure like to know where these are made.

I'd sure like to know where these are made.
all the ones i've handled are chinese. i've not seen any japanese ones, nor
have I seen any reference to euopean manufd aftermarkets. these slotted
design ones are made by Eagle Eye.

note that the headlight you referenced uses smaller bulbs....using H1 instead
of H7. sometimes, to make the package smaller overall so that they can
advertise 'slim' etc (i'm guessing) they go with smaller projector, smaller bulb in
the process.

Performance Products seems to have high retail prices - i've never purchased
anything from them as a result. All things being equal, i have always found
alternate vendor to purchase and at much lower price.

Well they don't look much like the back of my headlamps.

Get the Depos, they look great on the W210. The stock headlamps get really ugly after awhile.

Which ones are the Depos? I can't find which headlamps are labeled as Depos.
