Motor mount removal help!!!!!!

Here's my take on it. The motor mounts in a W124, 300E also look difficult. Appears to be no room arount the mount. In short a pain in the ass. So on 2 different 300E's I simply paid my mechanic to do it. It wasn't bad time wise and I avoided all the aggravation.
Now I have a '97 S320. On this car there is room to spare. Straight 6 in that big engine compartment. I'm going to do them just to say I pulled it off. If your car is as crammed in there as I think it is, then I would say punt and hire it done. Steve |

Steve, I now exactly what you are saying but I just love the challenge.I have a mech do jobs for me that I just dont have the time to do.The major problem is the you got to get the car to him then you dont know how long it is going to take him then you have to find time to pick it up.Its a real PITA>So I figure try it myself.

I've looked at the motor mounts on my 2000 C280 and it IS awfully crowded down there. I have only 50m so they are still fine, but something to mull over for the future.
I've done the motor mounts on my w124 300CE and they are pretty easy once you've done it. The only hard part is getting to the top bolt on the drivers side, the rest routine. glenmore 1991 300CE 2000 C280 1990 LS400 |
