I bought a Valiant Keyless Entry System Model 2RTA from J. C. Whitney for my 1983 300SD. Does anyone know what wires I need to connect to in the wiring harness to make it work?

Thanks for your help.

This has been done on the W124... but on those, the vacuum for the door locks is provided by an auxiliary pump. Is it this way on the W126? I know on the W123, vacuum is provided by the engine.

OK,so does it have a vacuum pump for the door locks? If so, I'd send it back and get the one from Crutchfieds (an Omega). They are less than $100 and we've well documented their installation. For those with w126s, just email me (bstreep@satx.rr.com) and I'll send you the changes that another member made.)

Thanks for your help.
Ground the black, blue & gray wires.
Power to the red, white & brown wires.
If you want your doors to lock/unlock when the ignition key is on/off, then connect the purple wire to power when the ignition key is on.
Yellow wire and green wires connect to a two wire actuator.
Orange wire is output activated by holding down the trunk button on the remote for a few seconds.
You can just leave the orange wire unused if you have nothing you want connected to it.

Follow directions by Craig here: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=136431&highlight=keyless+entry

This unit is also sold under the name: CHEETAH KE1
Manufactured by ICD or I.C. DYNAMICS
