hard to start..what next?

Well guys, "the hard to start when warm problem search continues".
Now that the Jeep is gone, I can turn more attention to this annoying problem.

I have spent countless hours searching this problem. I have replaced the injector holders, seals, all breather tubes, sparkplugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel pump, filter, fuel hoses, accumulator, coil, check valve at the fuel pump, cold start valve, and all engine mounted sensor switches. Starts right up cold. But not when hot. Timing is right on. Using premium fuel since day one. Tried synthetic oil. But too many leaks with 235,000 miles.
All electronics are functional. Car handles fantastic. Cruises at 95 and 2200 RPM.
Sooooooooo. Steve Bretherton(spelling?) suggested I am having a fuel pressure loss (or even a vapor lock) condition when the car sits after shut off. I put in another accumulator thinking the one I just got was bad. Nooooooooo.

The pressure loss could be internal. Not sure what that means. Or more likely with the mileage, injectors. With that I ordered another set of injector holders and seals.
And this time a new set of brass injectors from Rusty's.
The injectors in it now are origonal. Except #5 that was replaced for some reason by a PO.

I will keep all of you posted in about two weeks as to my progress after the new injectors are installed. There are just too many of us that have the "hard to start when warm" issue.

By the way, the issues I was having with my 2001 S500 have vanished. The car is now flawless. (see avitar)

For those of you with this chassis, please do a search on "Home at last"
and discover what I paid $11,000 to find.
To all of you, have a safe and fun Fourth of July!!

When the vehicle does not start check to see if there is spark. If not then your ignition control module (EZL) maybe the culprit.

I chased this problem in my 84 for months and spent hundreds of dollars on it. Nothing I did touched it.

One day I was talking to a good friend of my favorite machinist who used to work at the mercedes dealership in the eighties and ninties. He said,,,"Oh, those v8s? Just push the gas pedal down halfway when starting otherwise they flood". So I started doing that and also avoided shutting off the car when it was hot when I went into a village pantry and such so that I never started very often when it was good and hot and had a chance to sit for a short while and heat soak.

The problem was about 80% solved and the solution cost nothing.

This is a problem since new I think.

Thanks for your input. I remember you saying this awhile back. And each time I attempt a "warm/hot" start, I do push the pedal down some. This does work.

I will keep all posted on any results that may improve my starting issue when I get the new injectors. With 235,000 miles on the origonal engine, for me, it's worth the attempt.

Could be a couple of weeks down the road, though. Holiday work schedule is demanding 14 hour work days. Happy 4th
