C class vs 3 series(96-99)

Hi guys can you give me a good comparison with this 2 beautifiul car in terms of durability, performance,etc.Is 3 series using vacuum on a/c, central door lock? I had a bad experience troubleshooting a vacuum leak on my 190e(That's what I don't like in mercedes It's hard to troubleshoot a vacum leak when the car is getting old).What are the Pros and Cons.Thanks
