Electro-Magnet Fan
1992 190 E 2.3 140,000 miles
The electro-magnet for the fan does not engage. I have checked the electro-magnet and it works fine when power is applied straight from the battery, but on the car it doesn't. I have replaced the temperature sensor. Could someone please give me some clues as to what my next step should be? Thank you John |

i think there is a fuse for the fan and you should also jump that sensor so fan runs all the time.

There are a number of temperature sensors on the cylinder head, which one did you replace? Usually if you have a electromagnetic fan then there should be a 3 prong temperature switch which activates the electromagnetic fan at 100 deg C, and then at 105 deg C the next switch activates the high speed side of the electric aux fan via a relay (in a compartment situated behind the fuse box). Other models might use a 2 prog temperature switch.
