Hi,

I'm new to the forum and looking at a change of vehicle. I currently own an Audi A4 with a 5 speed stick. I like the looks of the C280 built in say '95 to '98 or so, but really know nothing about them. I really need an automatic trans for my commute, so this car would be a C280 with an auto.

Questions:
What are the good things and bad things about these cars? Looks like a lot of them have 90k + miles at this point which is understandable.
What are the trouble areas?
Any rust issues?
Any other general info appreciated! I own 2 german cars and am not afraid to swing a wrench. Just getting to the point with my Audi where I'm doing it ever other week...

1. Look for rust at the bottom of the doors, wheelarches, etc.
2. C 280 can have potential headgasket problems.
3. Model years 1996, 97 could have auto. transmission problems.
4. 1998 ( this model received a " facelift ) and newer should be plentyful & reasonably priced.
5. Best advice I can give you is, to have the vehicle checked out by a competent M-B mechanic.
